What We Do

​

We provide diapers to families in need every month. We have donated over 30,000 diapers to families in need since 2014.  There is still a huge need, more and more families are experiencing diaper need every day.  According to the National Diaper Bank Network, the lack of a sufficient supply of disposable diapers to remain clean, dry, and healthy is drastically low.  America’s babies are being shortchanged.

 

Did You Know

​

• Healthy infants can go through 10-12 diapers daily while toddlers can go through 6-8 training pants daily.

​

• Disposable diapers are also expensive; having an adequate supply can cost $150 or more per child per month.  Also, these families may not have washing machines to keep cloth diapers clean.

​

• Babies cry more often for being in a wet diaper which greatly increases the chances of abuse.

​

• Not having an adequate supply of clean diapers greatly affects families in low-income areas, single mothers, and young children.

​

• Licensed daycares often don’t accept cloth diapers and require parents to supply an adequate amount, without childcare parents can't go to work or school.

​

• Federal programs such as SNAP (Food Stamps) and WIC programs do not provide diapers.

​

• Memphis has a poverty rate of 28.30% and a child poverty rate of 44.30%.

How It Works

​

We collect diapers and distribute them through our partner agencies. By being intermediaries, we limit duplication of services, reduce administration expenses and work collaboratively to solve a basic human need at the community level. If struggling families need diapers, they often have other needs as well, which are best addressed through our partner agencies and their full spectrum of services. Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry is a growing community of supporters and we are always looking for more partner agencies.
